What Are the 5 Best Books You've Read This Year?

Let’s get the discussion started about great books …

What are the 5 best books you read this year?

The books that moved you or changed you … caused great reflection … humbling … or maybe even greater worship. They don’t have to be necessarily “Christian” books.

It could be as simple as listing the books (with your Amazon Affiliate links) … or providing a couple of briefs about them like Mark did here.

Weigh in by writing listing your 5 best books with this online form, or email me to become a contributor!

P.S. — Here’s my suggestions for writing good book reviews too!

    2: “Whatever happened To Worship”? A.W.Tozer /
    Christian Publications
(Read It Again For The First Time)
3: “What Jesus Demands From The World” John Piper / Crossway
(A reminder of God’s demands for a world which doesn’t like reminders nor demands.)
4: “Healthy Kingdom Churches” J. Robert White / Baxter Press
(Tremendous guide for churches wanting to fulfill God commission and commands)
5: “God’s Little Lessons For Leaders” / Honor Books
(Guides leaders as they guide others)

  2. Bryan Bulmer says:

“You Don’t Need A Title to be a Leader” Mark Sanborn (Currency/Doubleday)
“In a Pit with a Lion On a Snowy Day: How to Survivie and Thrive When Opportunity Roars” Mark Batterson (Multnomah)
“What Matters Most When NO is better than Yes” Doug Fields (Youth Specialties)
“Communicationg for a Change” Andy Stanley & Lane Jones (Multnomah)
“NO Perfect People Allowed” John Burke (Zondervan)

  3. “Love & Respect” by Dr. Emerson Eggerichs
    - This is a great book for anyone who is married, plans to be married, or talks to married people. Now, I’m not saying that this is THE how-to book, but it is enlightening.

“Destined for the Throne” by Paul Billheimer
    - Prayer is vital to the life of a Christian, and we’ve heard it many times and in many ways. But Billheimer takes the time to explain how it does more than “work” for us in the present; it prepares us for our Destiny.

“Religious No More” by Mark D. Baker
    - Be prepared when you read this book. I picked it up curious, but found myself convicted and challenged.

“The Signature of Jesus” by Brennan Manning
    - This book was a gem received in perfect timing this year. I’d never read anything by Manning prior to this, but have already another and am looking for a 3rd. One of the great challenges of this book is to live out of Christ as the center of your life.

“Provocative Faith” by Matthew Paul Turner
    - Turner has some interesting experiences he draws in this book that encourages us to move from a predictable, dry existence to a life of Christ-like love and faith.

  4. Bo McDaniel says:

Destined for the Cross, Paul Belheimer
    Spiritual Authority, Watchman Nee
    Normal Christian, Watchman Nee
    A Christian Manifesto, Francis Schaeffer
The Seduction of Christianity, D. Hunt/T.A. McMahon

Simple, yet profound truth and insight.
